In our world, there are hidden places of extraordinary beauty. They lie behind barriers of many different kinds. Whether restricted by law, ease of access, geographical barriers, or societal constructs, these places are rarely seen from the naked eye, especially traveling on foot. These photographs were made in one such location. Within a granite quarry in Barre, VT lies a world of such extraterrestrial beauty, it feels as if it is disconnected from the world we live in today.
Let these images serve as encouragement. Encouragement for us to strive to temporarily distance ourselves from our daily lives, and to explore and capture the beauty of these hidden places. Encouragement for us to spend time wandering.
The wandering photographer sees the same show that everyone else sees. He, however, stops to watch it.
